Building Technology 1
Project 1: Industralised Building System (IBS)
In groups of six, we were required to conduct study on the Industrialised Building System (IBS). This project consists of two parts. Part one requires each group to conduct research on a building which was constructed using IBS and study the components. The second part requires us to construct a model of a 3-storey apartment building to imitate the actual IBS construction process and to record all the process in a video. The video is also to include the embodied energy of the materials used.

By the end of this project, I am able to learn and identify information on the Industrialised Building System carried out in Malaysia, as well as other relevant pre-cast components. I also learned to prepare a set of architectural and structural documentation on the IBS components applied on the case study and relate to basic structural elements, procedures, principles and methods in construction. I have also learned to critique on issues pertaining to energy efficiency, embodied energy as well as ecological impact.
Porject 2A & B: Design Anatomy
This assignment is an integration project with Architectural Design Studio 5, which is a design project of community library in Brickfields. It aims to facilitate students in the technical studies and development of their design. It deals with the analysis and establishment of the structural and the envelope systems of the student’s design to ensure that the design has logical and workable construction systems.
Project 2A & 2B
The assignment is made up of two parts. Part one is a report of data collection and analysis on the proposed Architectural Design Studio 5's Community Library's structure, roof, walls, floors and facade as a precedent study. Part two is the integration of an A1 board with Architectural Design Studio 5, which consists of a detailed structural design and the relevent Fire fighting authority's requirement and UBBL requirements. A 1:50 sectional perspective of the library with proposed design and construction and various joints details is included as well.

Upon completion of this project, I am able to evaluate existing construction system and detailing of the selected project. Moreover, I also learned to critique issues pertaining to construction principles, materials, techniques, codes of practice, process of assembly, and detailing. by generating alternative construction solutions by means of sketches and drawings.
