This project was split into two sections, which consisted of individual and group tasks. First of all, we were required to select a building site, be it a residential or commercial building and identify the various building materials used in the building.

 

The building we had selected for this project is a Phase 6C, Hillside Villa show unit loacted in Setia Eco Park in the courtesy of SP Setia Berhad Group. We had researched on the various materials used and their physical and chemical properties. For individual task wise, we were to select a space and determine the suitability of materials used within that particular space in context to concept, occupancy and climate. Next, we were also required to feel and experience the chosen space and analyze what sort of feeling and ambiance of the material used within the space intended to contirbute to user experience.

 

I had learned to indentify and apply appropriate building materials in context to concept, occupancy and climate by the end of this project. Furthermore, I was able to understand the effects of building materials on aesthetics and structural qualities of a space or building.
